CAL Great match guys. It was good to see 10 people in vent before match time ready to play. There was great teamwork and communication throughout the match. A fast cap of 45 seconds in the first round started it all out great. Hitman, Jonny, and Fish dominated on Allies. Hit and Jonny both got 40+ bombs. Rifles were steady and held their ground well. Thought we were gonna hear some vent raging, but alas, there was silence.
Axis was equally impressive with Sux and jonny getting 40+ bombs with the heavies, and everyone getting in on the caps.
GG to Stormtroopers for the hard fought battle. Good sportsmen and a solid team they represent well.
Final Score: SLG| 548 - {$T} 78

TPG I&S had a solid warmup with [=1=] thanks to TheOZ, Otis and Sux for making up the six.
"Now or Never" were great sports, showing up on time and playing a man down in the first half with no whining.
The first round was close but we rolled them in the second.
Good work Ripshot, Holiday, Greg, Pepe, Monteh and Rosie.
Final Score 328 - 72

SLDL Semi Finals, All Hail DiNovo!
Posted by: holiday_hero on Monday, October 30, 2006 - 05:27 PM
SLDL My Dearest Love,

I hope this letter finds you somewhere in the far off lands in which you find yourself in these dark days.

Your mother has finally found herself proven right, and foreign boots ( very fine boots, most gracious, forgiving, generous and incredibly hansom) of an occupying army march up and down our streets.

Its is a hard call to say, if the deserved pillaging, of the victorious saviors, of our little country, from our corrupt bureaucracy, is any harder to bear, than the self righteous pontificating that emanates from the West side of the village, from dawn till dusk. Your mother could charm the birds from the trees, stone dead.

Rumor has it that all the men have moved to the East side and sort sanctuary with your father in the pub.

Your picture is everywhere, reward for information, 2 pigs and half a goat, seems the victorious DN where miffed that your bodies were not found in the rubble, particularly after such a hard fought battle. Rumor reaches us that the indomitable DN forces did not manage to overrun your lines once! Though they wouldn’t be so loose with our women’s virtues if they hadn’t won

212-97

They are offering quite a reward for the bodies of Frenchy, Krusty, Variable, Holiday, Hellfish, Rosie and Firefly

You never said anything about women in the army! How am I supposed to trust you out there, prancing about, without a care in the world, mixing with the likes of women with guns, when I am stuck here in this stinking backwater, chaste as a nun!

I for one welcome our new SLDL overlords, their uniforms are much smarter, and their bread can’t be used to build bomb shelters.

If you should happen to write, be a darling and tell me where you might be from time to time, so I can think of you.

Must go, dinner at 6, dancing at 7 and promptly to bed with 8, oh busy, busy me.

SLDL QF PubStars on Tiger

SLDL Dear son,

This is your father, I know we don't speak often, but word in the village is that you and your mother are a little upset with each other.

This is a situation that I can well understand and I think you should consider as following in your fathers footsteps.

A little like the coalman who seemed to shadow me every time I left the house, looked just like your brother Frenchy too!

I read with great interest of your recent victory in tiger ( which I can only assume they consider a proper name in those funny foreign lands ), all I ever hear from your mother is about her no good son and how he'll end up loosing the whole goddamn war, and we will all be eating foreign food before you know it, and how if it wasn't for Frenchy we would already be dressed all funny and marching to a different drum. My ears still hurt and we haven't lived on the same side of the village for 20 years.

So sounds like you really gave it to those pub stars, the way the paper had it they were like lambs before the butcher, but by the look of the score

320 - 316

I think things were a lot closer, I would describe 4 points as a win by the finest hair, though they do preach about a stolen cap out in the final moments, a photo of Frenchy diving towards the last capture, finger tips away, only to be denied by some backroom accountant, with not so much as trench foot, of a glorious moment.

The last photo shows you all, Frenchy, Ripshot, Krusty, Sneaky, Hellfish and Holiday, a more motley crew has never had the misfortune to appear on the front page of my paper and spoil my breakfast.

Covered in mud and blood, you could of brushed up a little, not what we would of called a uniform in my day.

Try to do something with your hair next time!

I hear the latch on the pub door opening, so now I will be off to help the war effort by drinking the beer supply dry and keeping our boys sober.

Oh and don't worry about 'your girl' and Frenchy, she slept with everyone, and if you ask me she isn't even very good.

All my love, Dad.

187th vs I&S
Posted by: Odin on Tuesday, October 03, 2006 - 08:18 PM
IGL DOD 1.3 Winning is nice, isn't it?
It was a good effort by the 187th, but we worked together and pulled out our 1st win of the season.

I think we all had a great time with Fly, Hoggie, Weasel, Pepe, Fish and myself allowing only 1 cap by the other team.

Hoggie found some evil places to employ his "mowing the grass" MG'ing skills, and with everyone communicating so well we see how it should be done next time.

Fly provided some interesting verbal encouragement to all the lads and gave us all a little "boost". It looks like it worked.

Congratulations to all the team.

See you next week. :)

Letter Home from Coire, week 5
Posted by: holiday_hero on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 - 03:32 AM
SLDL Dear Mum,

Thank you for your kind letter, even in these darkest days it reached me, to bring a little bit of the home I remember to our little fox hole.

As if that wasn't enough sunshine into my life, a few days later I find myself fighting side by side with my good Brother Frenchy in Coire.

The gentle fog that made it difficult to remember his face, and pretend it was on the head of every enemy that rushed our way, was lifted. All I had to do was look at good old Bruv, and every detail was etched into my mind and transferred onto the unfortunate others. My effectiveness was raised to previously unknown levels.

The ban on accidentally discharging ones weapons in the barracks and the fact that he would probably out draw me anyway, kept any conversation on My 'His' girl taboo. So both my, and his heavy stayed firmly targeted on the enemy.

Those guys from FOK were in for a shock.

Last minute reinforcements from the rear arrived, with Lonewolf carrying a light, we were lucky to get him, we would of been into war undermanned.

As the first half raged, it seemed all the luck that we had missed, was left out on the battlefield somewhere. We struggled desperately with the enemy pushing us back four times to our two. Then as the end drew near a shift in control could be felt with the hope of a victory not completely out of our grasp.

The tide turned, hard pushes from our assault team of Ripshot and Lonewolf rolled back the enemy.

Minister of information, Colonel Krust reached out to touch someone with the gentle caress of his sniper rifle, and in dark contrast Variable introduced all comers to Mr. Rocket and spread them thinly around the surrounding area.

Under this unending barrage we pulled a five cap lead and victory seemed assured, we were three ahead with mere minutes before rain stopped play.

But war wears you down, the early use of the whiskey ration and FOK pulled two caps back, the chance of defeat was all too real.

It was only once back to barracks, and we counted ears around the fire that we knew for sure the day was ours.

We made it I&S 403 to 379 FOK, that's a lot of ears anyway you cut it!

So lots of Love, your undying son.

PS, tell my girl I have a strange itch.

Letter to the front lines, Week Six Anvil
Posted by: holiday_hero on Saturday, September 16, 2006 - 07:20 PM
TPG Dear Son,

I recieved your letter with heavy heart, if you are going to be so miserable, then just don't bother writing.

Fortunately a few days after your depressive letter, I received one from your brother Frenchy.

Why can't you be more like Him and His friends.

They are stuck out fighting those One World Syndicate at Anvil, but they don't go on and on and on about how hard life is, and how their boots don't fit, they just get right on in and kill the fools.

Just so you've got something to keep you warm at night they gave it to them 465 - 16 !

Now how about trying something like that.

I knew I should of stopped having kids at nine.

Oh and I think your girl is actually Frenchies girl, she's got one in the oven, and she keeps asking where he is and when he's gonna keep his promises.

Please do try to be upbeat.

All our love, XXX

Mum.

Letter Home from Solitude SLDL week 3 MOP
Posted by: holiday_hero on Thursday, September 14, 2006 - 02:05 AM
SLDL Dear Mum,

I don't know when this letter will reach you, it seems like home is so far away, and I know that they check everything we send to help the war effort

I can't say too much, or Colonel Scabby will be sending round his communication officers for a friendly chat.

Seems like we have been out here for weeks in Solitude.

Can't believe the powers have a clue what we are supposed to be doing. Seems like every 20 minutes we fight over the same ground again, our friends become our enemies.

We had a hard night on Sunday, lost a lot of good friends.

Reinforcements from the rear failed to arrive and rifles had to be passed round until Rosie was on the end of the line, but she held up her end.

This damn damp is getting into my bones, all I could do to keep the snot out of my eyes, if it wasn't the blood.

We're not broken, but we did get hurt.

For the first twenty minutes, we were push and shove, the town changed hands once each way, but if I was to be honest, they had us on our back foot for most of it, then just as we felt like we could hold on, when we found ourselves turned around and fighting East to West they smashed through our defenses twice in a row.

But at the last our boys and girls dug in, and we bit them back so hard they'll be thinking twice next time they're ordered over the top.

It's funny how no matter how many men I see fall beside me, the same faces are there at the end, I just know if it wasn't for them I wouldn't of lasted this long.

You remember , Ripshot with the screwed up face, well he enjoys an MG, and I think he sleeps with his Heavy, Variable with the funny laugh was keeping it light, Hellfish, yep still smells but you feel safe when you can sniff him in your corner on another light, and anyway, we all stink of death now.

You never met Private John, but believe me, when I see him and Rosie running your way with Rifles in their hands, I dream I get to taste your cooking again.

Rumor has it we lost 373 – 159 to those beasts from Ministry of Peace.

Tell my girl I love her, maybe I'll make it back some day.
